He has been involved in South Africa’s local government, urban and economic development and transition processes for the past 35 years, as activist, advisor, negotiator, government planner, city manager, chief executive, facilitator, communicator, writer and photographer.

The EDP helps people and organisations from different sectors work together to solve complex problems. Since lockdown, the EDP has convened the Western Cape NGO - Government Food Relief Coordination Forum, established to promote a collaborative whole-of-society approach to food aid during the Covid-19 crisis.
